Got this unit a few weeks ago for casual listening in the home office. The combination of features, sound and price is amazingly good.
Features:
- the usual AM/FM with presets, single player CD (also plays data MP3 discs..haven't tried this yet),
- AUX input jack on the back and USB input on the front (more flexibility, MP3's, and hopefully with the right hookup XM radio?),
- EQ with about 8 settings (flat, bass boost, classical, rock, etc.)
- the Remote works great and controls all features.
The construction & build quality seem good. Style is a matter of preference (I think it's ok, but I'd prefer something a bit less flashy).
The speakers are not tiny satellites. The bass speaker faces out the side, so this may be a drawback if you are planning to place in a small crowded bookshelf. Otherwise they are fine - good combo of sound and compact size.
Overall I think the sound's very nice, a real pleasure to listen to (and I think I'm pretty selective on audio equipment).
Specs show 80 watts per channel at 0.5% THD (distortion). At 0.5% we are not talking audiophile quality, but I guess it's decent, and better than you'd expect for the price. The specs and sound quality are way better than other budget audio that gets 4 and 5 star Amazon reviews, and is 5.0% or more THD, which I have tried and returned because of the sound quality.
Two minor negatves:
- the speaker wires are thin and integral (attached to the speaker) so you need to live with the length they give you, or solder some on I guess.
- very minor mechanical whirring noise (less than a whisper) comes from the receiver unit (maybe the CD motor?). You can't hear it when music is playing. Only when the unit is turned on, but music is off, is it (barely) audible.
Overall, I am 100% satisfied, and would buy again without hesitation.

A friend of mine is looking for a new shelf stereo, and I enthusiastically recommended this system - I love it. The sound is excellent, and my ipod plays much better than expected. For a small system, it packs a big sound! I couldn't be happier with this stereo.

I just bought this system to replace an older one in my bedroom and I'm very pleased. The sound is very clear on disc and ipod playback. The bass is nice and strong with no distortion. It looks nice too. The only drawback (which is very minor) is that when I plug in the ipod using the usb port it plays all tracks randomly. You can however simply plug the ipod into the aux. input and select off the ipod as you normally would. All in all good value for the money.

First of all, Electronic Express did a great job shipping the stereo. I ordered on a Saturday night and received on Wednesday. I've had the stereo a little over a week now and think its an outstanding value. The sound quality is decent (would like to see brighter highs though), and it works well with mp3 players, usb jump drives and CDs (both retail and MP3s burned onto CD). Radio reception is solid too. One feature I'd like to see is a random/shuffle on the CD player, but overall am very happy with it!
